Intentional Spending

MEA believes where you spend your money matters.

When purchasing packaging, tools, metals, and stones, I do my best to support other businesses that align with MEA’s values. Whenever possible, I source from small businesses, local businesses, and businesses owned by marginalized communities.

I am always looking for new businesses to support, so if you have any suggestions, send me a message!

Sustainability

MEA believes that we have an obligation to protect our earth.

Small businesses are not the biggest problem, but we believe small actions add up! All of our packaging is plastic free and recyclable, and our mailers are 100% post-consumer recycled. All MEA pieces are made slowly with quality materials and are built to last & be adored for years to come! And if your piece breaks, I’ll repair it for you — check out this page for more information & how I can help.

It is important to acknowledge that metal and stone mining is damaging to the earth.

The turquoise MEA uses is mined in the southwestern United States where many of the mines are small-scale or part of a larger copper mining operation. Smaller scale operations are not sustainable, but they are less detrimental to the surrounding landscape than larger operations. The green and blue coloring of turquoise comes from copper, so turquoise mines often are next to large copper mines and therefore are a secondary product of the established mine.

To reduce MEA’s silver mining impact, I collect all metal scraps and dust made while creating each MEA piece, and recycle that material!

A human business

Meghan Elisabeth Art is a human-centered business.

When you communicate with MEA, you are communicating to a human — one who believes that every person deserves empathy and kindness. I believe in building a world where all people have bodily autonomy, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA+ are treated equally, and marginalized communities are empowered and supported.

I will make mistakes in helping build this world, but I am committed to learning and growing to make it a reality.
